The Real Age of a Copier
Two Copier Dealers: Each Give You a Different Copier Age…Who is Telling the Truth?
Ever visit a copier company who tells you a certain copier is a 2014. You stop at a different copier store, and the sales representative tells you that the copier at the other store was actually a 2008. Who can you believe? Copiers in today’s world will be manufactured for two years, so when it comes to a dispute over the year of the copier, it should fall into that two year range.
A copier may have been launched in 2012, but they discontinued it in 2014. Next, you find a dealer who tells you 2012 because they want to talk you out of that copier, and oftentimes, buy their new copier. Want to see if the sales rep is honest? Ask them about the year they introduced this new copier. If they tell you it is a new 2015 model, ask them when they first launched it. If they tell you they introduced it in 2013, you are dealing with a sales representative who has knowingly lied to you.
If they will claim age for the other copier at the other dealership, they should be honest with you about when they introduced their brand new copier. For example, you can buy a 2016 copier, even if it is 2015. The copier industry is similar to cars in that regard. Don’t walk, run out their door. That copier dealer cannot be trusted.
The easiest test, look for the serial number sticker on the back, and often right on that sticker, there is a manufactured on date. That keeps it simple. It is more likely to be missing if the copier company is trying to hide something, but if it is there, it is more than likely accurate.
